Our 2023 Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a striking expression of power and elegance, born from heritage vines rooted in the steep, south-facing slopes at the top of Moon Mountain.
Harvested at peak ripeness on October 20, the fruit was carefully destemmed and placed into a small stainless-steel tank for an extended 25-day native yeast fermentation, amplifying the wine’s natural depth and varietal character. Only free-run juice was used, ensuring purity, suppleness, and refined tannin structure.
Aged in a new 600L French oak barrel, this Cabernet gains a polished frame of spice and cedar to support its dark fruit core. The balance between concentrated mountain intensity and precise vinification yields a wine of remarkable tension, layered with blackberry, cassis, graphite, and subtle earthy undertones. Thoughtful aging and minimal intervention allow the vineyard’s rugged terroir to lead, while the craftsmanship underscores restraint and finesse.
The result is a rare single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon that captures both the power of Moon Mountain’s dramatic slopes and the nuance of patient, attentive winemaking—an age-worthy wine that will continue to unfold in complexity for years to come.
